About the Continuing Certification Directory

For ABMS Member Board Diplomates

  • Is there a fee to use the ABMS Continuing Certification Directory?

    ABMS does not charge a fee to use the ABMS Continuing Certification Directory. However, providers of the CME activities may charge users a registration fee to complete an activity. Such fees are paid directly to the CME provider or sponsoring organization.

  • What types of activities are included in the ABMS Continuing Certification Directory?

    The following types of activities are currently included in the Continuing Certification Directory:

    • Enduring
    • Internet
    • Live
    • Journal-based CME
    • Regularly Scheduled Series
    • Other

    All CME activities must award credit(s) from one or more of the CME credit systems:

    • AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™
    • AAFP Prescribed Credit
    • ACOG Cognates
    • AOA Category 1-A
  • What are the benefits of using the ABMS Continuing Certification Directory?

    The ABMS Continuing Certification Directory provides access to high quality, practice-relevant, accredited CME activities. Users can easily search activities that have been approved by one or more ABMS Member Boards.

  • How are the activities accessed?

    Diplomates can easily locate CME activities on the Find Activity page, using the Filter Activities feature to refine their search.

    Diplomates may also select a participating ABMS Member Board’s page to see that Board’s Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program requirements.Click the “View All Approved Activities” button for a detailed list of activities.

    Users should check the Directory often, as new activities are routinely being added. Find news related to Continuing Certification on the ABMS website.

  • Does the ABMS Continuing Certification Directory include activities available in foreign languages?

    No. At this time activities listed in the ABMS Continuing Certification Directory are only available in English.

For CME Providers

  • What are the benefits of submitting an activity to the ABMS Continuing Certification Directory?

    The ABMS Continuing Certification Directory is a single repository of activities that are approved for MOC by one or more ABMS Member Board. By using the online submission form, CME providers can seek approvals from multiple ABMS Member Boards at the same time. The submission form simplifies the approval process, and ABMS serves as a central point of contact for tracking progress.

    The Directory improves the alignment between ABMS Member Boards and the CME community, and advances the adoption of MOC activities that integrate one or more of the core competencies for Continuing Certification.

  • What is the process for submitting activities to the ABMS Continuing Certification Directory?

    CME providers can submit their activities to the Continuing Certification Directory by completing the online submission form. Please see the submission instructions and checklist.
