Maintenance of Certification Lifelong Learning and Self-Assessment
Attest to Completion of CME Requirements
Attestation: Diplomates log on to their status page and access the CME & Self-Assessment Attest Now link biannually (in years 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10), to confirm completion of at least 50 CME credits.
MOC Track I (certificates expiring on or prior to 12/31/2020)
- Earn a total of 250 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and, attest to completion by the end of the 10-year MOC cycle.
MOC Track II (certificates expiring 12/31/2021 or later)
- Earn an average of 50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ every 2 years, including 16 that qualify as self-assessment.
- Complete 1 activity that qualifies as patient safety during the 10-year MOC cycle.
Fast Track MOC Entry
- Earn at least 250 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (within the last 10-years), and attest to completion of all CME once during 3-year Fast Track cycle.
CME acceptable for ABO MOC must be AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ obtained from ACCME-accredited CME providers. At least 80% of all CME activities completed for ABO MOC must be specific to ophthalmology.
The ABO Quarterly Questions program is eligible for 8 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ beginning with the 2019
Direct CME Credit from the AMA is available for certain educational and professional development activities.
