Description of CME Course
H-CAHPS and CG-CAHPS are patient satisfaction surveys in the hospital and office settings. They are being collected, published and used by payers in determining hospital and physician reimbursement. Criticisms have been raised about the validity of the surveys and their relationship, or lack thereof, to quality of care. Many of the factors used in levying financial penalties are beyond the physician’s control. Many physicians find it dispiriting to be ranked like a restaurant. This monograph will examine the surveys, the claims, the criticisms and what is left for physicians to do about it.
