Description of CME Course
Pathologists are generally less likely to be sued than other physician-specialists. However, despite the low frequency of medical malpractice lawsuits brought against pathologists, pathology remains a high-risk specialty in terms of severity—the costs of claims. The average indemnity paid in pathology claims ranks in the top third of all medical specialties. This monograph explores some of the medical-legal risks encountered by pathologists and presents risk reduction strategies that will help increase patient safety while reducing pathologists’ liability.
