Description of CME Course
According to intelligence organizations, medical information is worth ten times more than a credit card number and criminal cyber-attacks are increasing. Government agencies, including the FBI, have issued numerous warnings to healthcare providers regarding the security of medical information. In addition, noncompliance with the HIPAA Security Rule can lead to breaches of protected health information and result in civil penalties. As mobile devices become more common place in healthcare, the risk of a privacy breach also increases. This monograph discusses how the loss of “mobile devices” containing PHI can have serious consequences for physicians, medical groups and healthcare organizations.
