Description of CME Course

Drug errors are not uncommon in health systems. In this course, you will learn about the impact of medication errors and adverse events, categories of drug errors, the incidence of medication errors in the operating room, a review of closed claims data and pediatric registries, and strategies to reduce medication errors. Earn quality improvement points with the creation of an action plan to reduce pediatric drug errors in your practice by reporting outcomes on the measures taken.

This activity contributes to the patient safety CME requirement for the CME component of the American Board of Anesthesiology’s (ABA) redesigned Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology™ (MOCA®) program, known as MOCA 2.0®. Please consult the ABA website, www.theABA.org, for a list of all MOCA 2.0 requirements.

This activity contributes to the Part 4: Improvement in Medical Practice requirement of the American Board of Anesthesiology’s (ABA) redesigned Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology Program® (MOCA®), known as MOCA 2.0®. Earn up to 4 points for completion of the activity.
