CME Provider: AMA Code of Medical Ethics

Description of CME Course

As augmented intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly integrated into clinical practice, physicians must navigate new ethical and operational challenges. AI tools can enhance diagnostic accuracy, streamline workflows, and support personalized care, while also introducing concerns related to reliability, bias, transparency, privacy, and patient trust. This educational module provides a practical toolkit to help physicians evaluate and implement AI tools for responsible use in clinical practice across the full lifecycle of any AI tool. It outlines key categories of AI tools including administrative, clinical decision-support, and medical intervention tools and offers guidance to ensure their safe and equitable use. Emphasizing that AI should remain a resource rather than a replacement for clinical judgment, this module equips physicians to maintain accountability, mitigate risks, and strengthen shared decision-making with patients. By embedding ethical AI practices into daily workflows and organizational policies, clinicians can harness AI to improve outcomes while preserving human oversight, compassion, and patient well-being.
