Description of CME Course
More than 60,500 active emergency physicians in the U.S. operate under time pressure within a high risk, high volume and often under resourced environment. They most often see a patient only once, usually in a situation in which the patient needs quick assessment and treatment. Does the built-in environmental risk of emergency medicine translate into a disproportionate number of medical malpractice claims for emergency physicians? Part 1 of this activity will review what is known about professional liability in the ED setting.
