Description of CME Course

New guidelines outlined in the ACOG & AAP Task Force Report on Neonatal Encephalopathy (NNE) include scientific updates on specific fetal heart rate patterns, sentinel events, and newborn assessment indicators that may indicate an acute intrapartum hypoxic-ischemic injury that leads to NNE or cerebral palsy. Research and obstetric medical malpractice claims data shows evidence of misuse, underuse, or inconsistent use of the new ACOG/AAP guidelines in clinical practice. This monograph includes an EFM case study to practice application of concepts, and offers risk management and patient safety solutions regarding the topic.
