Description of CME Course
Over 90% of obstetric-related malpractice involves EFM negligence. EFM-related malpractice claims decrease in facilities that adopt, implement, and consistently use standardized EFM terms and guidelines. Universal adoption of standardized nomenclature by every practitioner skilled in EFM is a national goal. Use of the 2008 NICHD terms, guidelines and 3-Tier FHR Interpretation system, and 2010 ACOG Intrapartum management algorithms improves transparency among hospitals, health systems, and individual practitioners. Application of these concepts is presented in a case study format. Recommendations on how to create a EFM Standardization plan in your facility or office practice are included.
