Educational Objectives

1. Describe the scope and impact of adolescent substance use in Oregon, including current trends, risk factors, and the role of emerging substances such as fentanyl.
2. Identify early warning signs of substance use and implement school-based strategies for timely screening, referral, and connection to behavioral health services.
3. Apply evidence-informed approaches to strengthen protective factors such as social-emotional learning, resilience, and positive school climate to reduce substance use risk.
4. Integrate culturally responsive, evidence-based prevention curricula and practices into school settings to reduce the initiation and escalation of substance use among youth.
