Description of CME Course

The Oregon ECHO Network (OEN) will work closely with pediatricians, psychologists, and pediatric specialists to deliver a 12-session pediatric ECHO program that meets weekly for 60 minutes. Each session will include a 15-20-minute expert presentation on best practices for screening, diagnosing and treating common and complex conditions in children and adolescents, followed by an interactive case discussion. Participants will be invited to present de-identified patient cases focused on challenges they face with their primary care patients regarding diagnosing or treating common and complex conditions in children and adolescents.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this program, learners will be able to:
1. Learn to screen for and care for substance use disorders in an acute inpatient settings.
2. Understand successful models of hospital-based addiction care
3. Understand medications used to treat opioid use disorder (buprenorphine and suboxone).
4. Develop an approach to collaborating to treat addiction in hospitals and improve systems with a multidisciplinary team (General medical providers, nurses, social workers, and pharmacists can collaborate).
5. Learn to support linkage to treatment after hospitalization.
