Description of CME Course

Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) was developed to serve as a collaborative model of medical education and care management that empowers front-line clinicians with knowledge and support from specialty care providers to care for patients with complex, chronic medical conditions. This ECHO will provide clinicians and other healthcare workers in Oregon with evidence-based tools to screen, diagnose, and treat those with Hepatitis B and C, as well as identify liver-related complications.

Educational Objectives

The overall course goal is to for participating primary care teams to develop a population health-based approach to hepatitis C treatment, as a means to elimination.
• Support participants to develop and sustain systems, protocols, and policies to support hepatitis C treatment in the primary care setting
• Understand the populations most at risk for contracting hepatitis C
• Increase the number of patients screened for hepatitis B and C with appropriate interpretation of screening tests, as well as best practices for outreach
• Promote education for both patients and providers on hepatitis B and C
