Description of CME Course
The purpose of the Practical Skills for Behavioral Health in Primary Care (Practical Skills) ECHO is to build the capacity of primary care clinicians and their team members to build practical skills in the field of behavioral health to provide appropriate care to their patients. It will use the ECHO protocol in which interactive case discussions are combined wiht actionable didactics.

Educational Objectives
1. Demonstrate essential clinical, relational, and systems-based competencies required for behavioral health providers in integrated primary care settings.
2. Apply trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and lifespan-appropriate strategies to support diverse patient populations, including youth, elders, and underserved communities.
3. Evaluate behavioral health needs and risks using foundational tools such as grounding techniques, motivational interviewing, and collaborative safety planning.
4. Integrate respectful, effective communication practices with patients, families, and care teams to enhance engagement, trust, and continuity of care.
5. Analyze systemic barriers and resource limitations in behavioral health care, and formulate practical approaches to navigate specialty referrals, scarcity, and patient empowerment.
