Description of CME Course
The Oregon ECHO Network (OEN) will work closely with a developmental pediatrician, neurodiverse therapist, parent advocate, Oregon Health Authority and others to deliver a 12-session Behavioral Health for Kids with IDD ECHO program that meets weekly for 60 minutes. Each session will include a 15-20-minute expert presentation on best practices for adapting behavioral health therapies for kids with IDD, followed by an interactive case discussion. Participants will be invited to present de-identified patient cases focused on challenges they face with their setting regarding diagnosing or treating complex conditions in children with IDD and mental health conditions.

Educational Objectives
1. Implement best practice tools and strategies for person-/family centered interview and communication.
2. Engage in shared collaboration with families in the decision-making process.
3. Describe common mental health conditions that often present as behavioral complaints and identify the symptom presentation of common mental health conditions in youth with IDD.
4. Identify common medical and non-medical issues that may account for acute behavioral changes and discuss how medical co-morbidities may affect and individual’s health and behavioral presentation.
5. Develop and utilize strategies to support youth with IDD and co-occurring mental health and behavioral challenges.
6. Review therapeutic and behavioral interventions shown to be effective for individuals with IDD.
