Description of CME Course

Screening for aortic aneurysm is under-utilized. It lacks a high profile awareness campaign, colored ribbon or celebrity fund raiser. Elective repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) carries risk that increases with age, making it important to determine whether, who and when to screen. Thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) is frequently familial, develops silently and may manifest for the first time as dissection and sudden death – often mistaken for myocardial infarction. Once identified, entire families can benefit from TAA screening, surveillance and treatment. Part II will review the data from studies in the peer-reviewed literature and present recent professional guidelines and tools for improving the diagnosis of aortic dissection.

Diplomate Engagement

Pre-and Post-test results are provided to diplomate and an evaluation survey is issued upon completion of the course. A follow-up post-activity survey is also issued 3-4 months after completion that asks what practice changes have been made.
