Description of CME Course
Chronic untreated substance and opioid use disorders (SUD/OUD) are associated with lack of prenatal care, preterm birth, fetal death, and other pregnancy complications. This monograph will present an overview of the maternal and fetal effects of SUD and OUD in pregnancy and highlights 3 primary factors in the management of this specialty population.

Educational Objectives
a. Analyze and critique several maternal and fetal case studies to identify the symptoms of SUD or OUD and the fetal effects on a EFM strip.
b. Adopt the three key factors (decriminalization, universal screening with SBIRT, and opioid agonist therapy) in the management of SUD and OUD during pregnancy into clinical practice as indicated.
