Description of CME Course
The purpose of the Suicide Prevention ECHO is to build the capacity of primary care clinicians and their team members in rural and urban areas to provide safe care for individuals with suicidal thoughts and behaviors as well as understand how to find and use resources and use resources to provide care. The program will be delivered using the Project ECHO protocol, a case-based, interactive learning protocol that is delivered virtually.

Educational Objectives
1. To understand rationale for targeted depression screening in primary care and to increase provider comfort with screening for behavioral/emotional disorders using screening tools
2. To learn more about using evidence based tools for suicide risk assessment and increasing provider comfort with assessing for suicide risk
3. To understand rationale for engaging in safety planning and lethal means counseling with those patients who have ben identified as being at risk for suicide
4. To increase provider comfort with the intervention of safety planning as a standard of care for patients who have been identified as being at risk for suicide.
5. To understand how to work collaboratively with patients and provide empathetic care
6. To understand the standard of care, where patients are along the care continuum, and how to variable resources based on factors like size of clinic and geography
