Description of CME Course
This ECHO aims to increase Substance Use Disorder (SUD) identification and evidence based treatment by Oregon Emergency Department staff. Barriers to excellent SUD care in EDs have included: stigma against persons with SUD, inexperience with medication for opioid use disorder and related low rate of buprenorphine initiation by Oregon’s EDs, lack of staffing to provide multidisciplinary SUD care in ED settings, and scarce availability of addiction medicine consultant expertise to advise ED providers.
